AOT Public Safety Corporation (PSC) has developed iHawk™, a stand-alone emergency response system. It displays critical geographic, incident-related and site-specific information to first responders in route to an emergency situation or once they arrive. iHawk™ is designed to be used on the mobile computers of first responders. Given the location of the incident, iHawk provides real-time, GPS-based vehicle progress toward the site, aerial imagery, building floor plans, emergency pre-plans, and other information necessary for an efficient and effective response. iHawk™ allows communities to use their geospatial data to improve public safety and support first responders from Fire, EMS, Police, HAZMAT Spill Response, Emergency Management and other agencies responding to conventional and terrorist incidents. iHawk™ is comprised of two modules - Data Administration and Mobile. The Data Administration module is used in the central office to organize, maintain and duplicate the master database of geographic and plan data. It is also used to establish the rules governing how information will be accessed and viewed in the field. The Mobile module is deployed in the field to display information, and provide special tools to make the information more useful.

iHawk™ can normally be deployed quickly because it typically requires little or no data conversion. Instead, it views existing information in over 150 formats such as CAD drawings (DXF, DWG, FireZone™), images (jpg, gif, sid, etc.), documents (pdf, doc, etc.) and other presentations. iHawk™ also allows documents to be created and viewed on-the-fly from pre-plan databases maintained by a department.

A predecessor software to iHawk, MaxResponder, was implemented in several school districts for emergency preplanning and access of important, life-saving information. After the disaster at Columbine High School, school administrators realized how important it was to be able to easily access building information. Having floor plans, building images, location inventory, and emergency contacts is essential in any type of emergency, especially when it involves children. When the principal of Columbine found himself sketching floor plans for the officers on the scene, trying to remember exact locations, it was obvious that there had to be a better way. iHawk is the answer for any school district that places a high priority on safety.

This system can be used to:

  • Provide information about the incident site, including facility contents, building type and emergency contact information
  • Search for a location by full name, partial name, address, or intersection, with type-a-head accuracy and convenience.
  • Show the responding vehicle in route to the incident site using GPS. AutoZoomİ keeps the vehicle and incident site on screen at all times.
  • Show virtually any type of digital file with information about the incident site and surrounding area, including photographs, aerial images, blueprints, street maps, and more
  • " Draw standoff circles and check standoff area for residential and commercial information. Access emergency contact information for locations within the area.
  • Use virtual "push pins" to locate and plot emergency vehicles and other mobile points with associated data, such as vehicle type, assigned personnel, time on location
  • Use a built-in tape measure feature to measure distances between buildings, vehicles, and hydrants

The main reasons to invest in iHawk are:

  • iHawk™ provides fast access to critical, life and property-saving information. It also puts this information directly in the hands of first responders tasked with combating emergencies.
  • iHawk™ leverages existing investments in data, especially geographic (GIS) data (in ESRI format).
  • iHawk™ is a proven solution with many customer installations.

Quick access to emergency medical information is critical for first responders. Currently, most first responders must deal with a paper-driven system of handbooks, map books, and neighborhood data that are not always up to date and information is not easily accessible. iHawk™ has incorporated these components into a single tool, which integrates instantly the information necessary to answer emergency calls with speed, knowledge and confidence. With this application running on mobile data computers or laptops, first responders have at their fingertips a visual perspective of the incident site, real-time (GPS-based) routing progress, evacuation data, stand-off circles and other data required to arrive on the scene in control and ready for implementation.
